Facebook, a social network giant, launched a new search feature called Search FYI. With this latest feature, Facebook made all public posts searchable and also enhance the search function allowing the users to find out what the world is discussing about a particular topic. Facebook announced that it is going to make two trillion posts public with its new update for Search FYI. Facebook aims to compete with other social giants Google and Twitter with this major update.
With this new update, Facebook seems to be the new search engine like Google. It will make easier for the users to get the trending news accessible in a real time and also help to find out what the world is saying about topics that matter to you.
Facebook’s new update, Search FYI, will make your all public posts searchable worldwide over the internet. If you don’t want that your posts are view able or searched by anyone in the world then you must change your privacy settings in your Facebook profile.
If you want to change settings for your posts that they shouldn’t be searchable publically to the world, follow the steps to change privacy settings in your Facebook profile.
Go to settings -> Privacy. Here, you can find a section called “Who can see my stuff?”
Under this section, click on “Who can see my future posts?”
If its current state is ‘Public’ then change it for ‘Friends’
Similarly, you have an option to limit your old public posts to friends.
Click on the third option “Limit the audience for posts you’ve shared with friends of friends or public?”
And then Click on Limit Old Posts
It’ll limit all your posts to Friends Only.
You can revert your privacy settings any time you wish to make them public again.
